About us...

ISA Power has built its reputation thanks to its effective and inspiring methods. Clients can quickly and easily start working on their recovery! ISA Power has helped people (and their families) both nationally and internationally overcome their eating disorders. ISA Power is made up of a team of peer coaches who specialize in helping people with Anorexia Nervosa, Bulimia Nervosa, Binge Eating Disorder, OSFED (also known as Other Specified Feeding or Eating Disorder), and other eating-related disorders.

The multi-disciplinary team consists of professionally trained coaches and therapists, including NLP coaches, Life coaches, counselors, dietitians, EMDR (trauma) therapists, career coaches, body-oriented therapists, creative therapists, music therapists, and hypnotherapists.

The solution

We believe in recovery, but we don’t claim to have the solution. Each program is customized. You won’t hear us promise that treatment will work for everyone. A therapist cannot heal their client; the power lies within the client themselves. For years, research has been conducted on effective treatment methods for Anorexia, Bulimia, and other types of eating disorders. The evidence-based approaches and alternative methods come together in our guidance. We utilize the Eating Disorder Care Standard but are also willing to deviate from it if we find that a client is getting stuck or even becoming sicker.

Scientists, healthcare professionals, and peer experts must increasingly join forces. For professionals, this means embracing the uncertainty in the evidence base and focusing on the client's context. For scientists, this means recognizing that scientific evidence is always incomplete and must remain open to new insights and experiences. Thus, we realize that we do not have all the answers and cannot know everything. This is why we prefer to collaborate with the client, their family, and other healthcare professionals.

We do not offer clinical treatment and do not have a clinic. If you are looking for that, you can make a referral through your GP to the mental health services (GGZ) or an eating disorder clinic. Not all of our coaches and therapists are registered with the BIG (Dutch healthcare professionals register), so treatment may not be reimbursed. Read more about our rates or find out how treatment can be reimbursed through your FACT team or with a Personal Budget (PGB) through your municipality.

You don’t need a referral from your GP or specialist to start treatment at ISA Power. You can come to us with or without an official diagnosis of your eating disorder. You can schedule an intake session with a coach in your area right away. During the intake, we will assess how and whether we can assist you and determine if you might need additional support elsewhere.

Isabelle Plasmeijer, Founder of ISA Power

Philosophy

I have a personal passion for helping people develop into the best version of themselves. After recovering from my eating disorder, I wrote my first book.

In 2013, I founded ISA Power, which now consists of a team of highly enthusiastic, professional, and experienced coaches. What makes us unique is that all of our coaches are also experts who have overcome their own eating disorders. Meet the other coaches. As a team, we support people at various stages of their recovery, sometimes during the waiting period, throughout the entire process, or just for aftercare.

Mission

Our mission is to inspire, motivate, and activate people so they can unleash their inner strengths and learn to stand taller in life, feeling happier, more grateful, and proud. With more than 25 locations across the Netherlands, we are always near you.

Vision

Through sharing knowledge and providing insights during personal coaching, events, training, and workshops, we guide people to a higher level of awareness, meaning, energy, happiness, and joy in life.

Client Review ⑨

Our clients are highly satisfied with our coaching and training. We are of course very proud of this, but even prouder of them for overcoming their eating disorders. Read more about our clients’ experiences and how they feel about our methods and support.

Methodology

Because our team is so diverse, we can offer broad support to you and your family. Within our team and methodology, you’ll find many workbooks and exercises based on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), as well as inspiring coaching and empowerment exercises. Our coaches have backgrounds in Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), REBT, mindfulness, Psycho-Motor Therapy (PMT), body-oriented work (Polyvagal Theory), Reiki, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Hypnotherapy, Systemic Therapy, dance/play therapy, nutrition and dietetics, and group therapy (events). Want to know more about the background and expertise of our coaches? Check out their profiles.

Psychoeducation is also an important part of ISA Power’s approach. ISA Power places great emphasis on educating and informing both clients and their (direct and indirect) environment about eating disorders, from causes to the path to recovery. We also welcome individuals with comorbidities.

Can we help everyone?

We are here for anyone who wants our help, is willing to work on themselves, and wants to overcome their fears. However, we cannot help everyone with an eating disorder. You may not be stable enough for outpatient treatment at this time. We are not an eating disorder clinic and do not provide medical help. We also do not offer treatments like those in mental health clinics or treatment centers. We are here to coach and support you, without coercion or demands. From our experience-based knowledge, we prefer to create personalized programs. If you have already tried various treatments and would like to explore how a tailored program could look, contact us!

Our clients seek help for:

  • Eating disorders / depression

  • Anxiety / overthinking / panic attacks / anger issues

  • Trauma and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)

  • Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD)

  • Self-harm / abuse

You may also be dealing with other issues or have been diagnosed with attachment issues, Borderline Personality Disorder, ASD, or ADHD. If this is the case, know that you are welcome for help. It may be helpful to involve another treatment or professional alongside our support. We’d be happy to discuss with you what’s appropriate for your situation.
